A Greve in Chianti, on Easter Monday and the second Sunday of October in Piazza Matteotti is the antique market, flea market dedicated to things of the past, the oldest in the Chianti area, involving around one hundred exhibitors from all over Italy.
The arcades of the square on this occasion have come back to their original purpose: to repair the goods on display.
In May there is the "Flower Festival", and the second weekend of September, the "Wine Festival: festival of the Chianti Classico Consortium in collaboration with the historic name of St. Casciano.
Between May and June, in different areas of the Chianti is the event "Open Cellars", during which the wine producers in the area invite you to visit their cellars. A
Panzano in September, one week after the wine festival is the exhibition "Vino al Vino" in which companies associated with the agricultural area mountain stands in the central square. The visitor has the opportunity to purchase a glass and sample wines from all these farms.
Other events that are worth a visit are: a mid-September to review the Radda in Chianti "antique holiday" for those interested in antiques and crafts at high level. In mid-June "Antiques in the castle" in S. Casciano Val di Pesa, the "Sunday Market" in Cerbaia always in June, and "Merc'antico" Mercatale Val di Pesa, in April.
Who was interested in the culinary delights of Chianti, we recommend the "Festival of rural culture in Strada in Chianti between April 25 and May 1, in which you can taste typical dishes of Tuscan tradition.
At the same time there is the "Wild Boar Festival" Chiocchio, while the Sunday after March 19 (St. Joseph) hosts the "Festival of pancakes" in the village of Montefioralle. Finally, the last Sunday in October to Lucolena is "Chestnut Festival", with roasted chestnuts and chestnut at will.
Finally we point out the "Biennale of Contemporary Art in Chianti" from October to April, during which you can admire works by important contemporary artists set in wide open spaces and historic places.
In the geometry of castles and villages, but also of the hills and cypress trees, the artists take their inspiration from the four primary elements.
